STEMulating Freedom and the Future (2022)

The 400 Years of African American History Commission, in partnership with The Jackson County (MO) Links, Incorporated, in an effort to elevate STEM as a commemorative, mutual and career priority for secondary and higher education, have produced the video STEMulating Freedom and the Future. The video highlights a NSBE, Jr. Chapter at the African Centered College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, MO. The Jackson County (MO) Links, Incorporated operate the NSBE, Jr. STEM program at the school, exposing the scholars to Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), STEM professionals and provide them an opportunity to attend National NSBE Conferences.  In addition, a member of their chapter runs a Bee Keeping operation, KC MOHIVE, and engages students in bee keeping and agriculture.

Experts in the field provide commentary throughout the video, including Leslye Miller Fraser, STEMREADY Chair for the Links, Incorporated, General Charles Bolden, Former head of NASA, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, President of the Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, Pres. University of Maryland Baltimore County, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), Dr. Jeanette Epps, NASA Astronaut, and Robert Stanton, former Head of the National Park Service.
